The recorded history of Craps dates back to a dice game called Hazard, which goes back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Eightteen Thirteen. Hazard is thought to be a descendant of Azzahr, which means ‘the die’ a game played by Arabs.
The game developed as it traveled from the Arab regions to Europe and then to the UK. By the early eighteenth century, formal established rules for Hazard had been developed. France started playing the British version of Hazard and is thought to have been imported to the new world by early French colonizers. In the mid-Eighteenth century, when the British beat the French in British North America, the French settlers migrated to Louisiana. Dice were enjoyed on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a simplified ‘American’ version of Craps was created. The game moved west and is a popular game that is participated in all over the United States and around the world.
The name ‘Craps’ is considered to be a French articulation of the term crabs, which refers to two ones. There are 2 basic forms of Craps that are played-street Craps and casino Craps. Street caps, accurately called because it is wagered on the streets is where a tosser makes a point and then attempts to acquire that point. The betting is made either for or opposed to the shooter and a player has to cover the bet in order for the craps game to continue.
In bank Craps, which is the familiar game, played in casinos, the betting house funds the game. The players gamble against the house-the casino covers all of the bets of all of the individuals. Craps once was a quite loved casino game but in the past 20 years had divided itself and other games, such as poker and black jack became more well-loved. However, Craps is seeing a come back in recognition once again in net betting houses and in brink and mortar betting houses.
